Remember This

Your AI doesn't know anything about your life.

Explore life with AI

A free Mac app that keeps a live biographer alongside you. It interviews you about your past, present and future, writes your story as it goes, and gives your AI the context to help with reflection, everyday chores and planning your life.

Apple Silicon (M1–M5) or Intel, macOS 14 or later; an early alpha for Windows. Runs on your own AI subscription: Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI, through Codex).

Remember This writes your life story

The Life Book tab drafts your biography from what your archive already knows—where you've lived, who keeps appearing in your photos, what your voice memos talk about. It splits your life into eras automatically and writes one focused chapter at a time, in the background, in minutes.

  • Chapters, not a data dump

Pick an era—the most recent is pre-selected—and get one focused, readable chapter. Come back to the same era anytime; each pass builds on the last.

  • It interviews you

While writing, it asks the few questions only you can answer—who's in the 2019 photos, what mattered that year. Answer by voice or text; corrections are remembered for every future chapter.

  • Never a black box

You always see whether it's writing (step away), waiting on your answers, or done. Your life story stays in plain markdown, in your folder, like everything else.

What this looks like in practice

Things you can only ask once your AI can read your own archive

Your past

  • “Write my autobiography.”

The Life Book splits your life into eras and drafts a chapter at a time from the photos, places and people already in your archive.

  • “How different was life before and after we had kids?”

Your own timeline either side of a date, rather than what you happen to remember about it now.

  • “Map all my travel over the last decade, down to the exact dates.”

Every trip and its dates, reconstructed from where your photos were taken. Nobody keeps that log. Everybody has the photos.

Your present

  • “What have I been up to lately? Write an update for friends and family.”

Drawn from what you actually did over the past weeks, not from a blank page on a Sunday evening.

  • “I photographed an event poster a few days ago. What was it, and can I go?”

Every photo is described in words when it lands, so the poster you half-remember is searchable text with a date attached.

  • “Who haven’t we had over for dinner in a while?”

Who turns up in your photos, and how long it has been since the last time.

Your future

  • “Find us somewhere to travel we haven’t already been.”

It knows everywhere you have been, so it can rule all of it out before it starts suggesting.

  • “Based on what we’ve done to the house before, what maintenance is due soon?”

What was done, and when, going back years. The service you had done in a summer you no longer remember is still in there.

How it works

You keep capturing what you already capture. Remember This does the filing.

Photos · Voice Memos · Transactions · Projects · Notes

  1. 1
    Capture

Photos, voice memos, transactions, and notes. Use the tools you already have—iPhone, Apple Watch, or a text editor.

  2. 2
    Structure

Remember This organizes everything into markdown files with timestamps, people, places, and metadata. All on your Mac.

  3. 3
    Use

Claude Code and any other MCP-compatible agent read that folder, which is what lets them help with your actual life rather than life in general.

Your life shouldn't live in someone else's database.

Everything lives in one folder on your Mac, as plain markdown you can read, edit and back up yourself. Photos and voice memos never leave the machine, and any MCP-compatible agent can use the folder, so your tools can change without taking your context with them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is my data stored?

Everything lives in a single folder on your Mac (default: ~/Remember This/). Inside, the folder is split into Registry (photos and voice memos—stays on your Mac) and Notes (your Obsidian vault with rollups—syncs to mobile). All processing happens locally. Nothing is sent to any server.

How is this different from ChatGPT memory or Google Personal Intelligence?

Those tools remember your conversations or reason over cloud data. Remember This structures your actual life artifacts—photos with people and places, transcribed voice memos, tracked time, transactions—into plain files on your Mac. The result is deep personal context that any AI agent can use, not just one provider’s chatbot.

Do I need to use Claude Code?

Remember This runs on your own AI subscription: Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI, through Codex). That’s what processes your folder on a schedule you control, following instructions you define. Your folder is plain files, so any other AI agent—including OpenClaw—can read it too.

Can I use this on iOS or Android?

The app runs on macOS only (Apple Silicon recommended). Your rollups and notes sync to Obsidian Mobile via iCloud or Obsidian Sync—the Notes folder is small and syncs quickly. You capture on mobile (photos, voice memos), process on Mac, and view your context everywhere.

What do I need to get started?

You need: (1) macOS 14.0+ with the Remember This app installed, (2) your own AI subscription: Claude (Anthropic) or ChatGPT (OpenAI, through Codex), and (3) Obsidian (recommended for viewing your vault). Optional: iCloud or Obsidian Sync for accessing your notes on mobile.

The sooner you start, the more there is to work with.

Remember This reads the photos and voice memos you already have, so there is something in your archive on day one. It gets better every week you keep capturing.
